Summer is a great time for visiting the glaciers around Juneau. Several tour operators can set you
up with all the gear, and a helicopter ride to a tour camp on the glacier.
It's difficult to see how big the glaciers are. There are no trees or other artifacts to give
perspective. Look at the two pictures below. In the first, it appears there is a six or ten foot wall
of ice behind the trekker.

the glacier) at the lower center lend a perspective to the true size.
